Rules of Procedure
of the History of Ideas Research Centre at Jagiellonian University


Article 1


The History of Ideas Research Centre [Centrum Badań nad Historią Idei UJ], hereinafter called the Centre, is an independent organisation unit at the Faculty of Philosophy of Jagellonian University. The Centre can use another name – "History of Ideas Research Centre".


Article 2

  1. The goal of the Centre is scientific research as well as didactic and methodological developments in the field of the History of Ideas.
  2. The goals of the Centre include especially:
  1. the coordination of the cooperation within the "International History of Ideas Research Network" project;
  2. the development of a binding methodology of the History of Ideas;
  3. the cooperation with the organisation units of the Jagellonian University and other research institutes in Poland and abroad;
  4. the promotion of the Polish and foreign researches in the field of the History of Ideas and its methodology;
  5. the implementation of the individual research projects;
  6. the coordination of the publishing series „Viae et Viaculla. Proceedings of the International History of Ideas Club Meetings";
  7. the digital publishing of the „International History of Ideas NetMag";
  8. the coordination of the doctoral school in Krakow ("International History of Ideas Doctoral College") in the field of the History of Ideas and its methodology;
  9. the coordination of the summer school in the field of the History of Ideas and its methodology ("International History of Ideas Summer School").

 

Article 3


The goals, which are mentioned in Article 2, are implemented by:

  1. the university lecturers employed at the Faculty of Philosophy of Jagiellonian University
  2. the university lecturers employed by other Jagiellonian University units, or from beyond the Jagiellonian University, as well as the independent scholars and experts, doctoral students, and outstanding students.

 

Article 4

  1. The authorities of the Centre are: the Head and the Consultation Committee.
  2. The Head of the Centre can be a university lecturer, but with at least a post-doctoral degree, and must be employed at the Faculty of Philosophy of Jagiellonian University, for whom the Jagiellonian University is the main employer.

 

Article 5

  1. The Head of the Centre leads the activities of the Centre, especially as it:
  1. represents the Centre to the outside;
  2. enacts the decisions of the Council of the Faculty of Philosophy at Jagellonian University;
  3. makes the decisions about the Centre's activity in cases detached from other units' acquaintances;
  4. works out project plans for projects of research activity and the development of the Centre;
  5. gives the annual reports about the Centre's activity to the Dean of Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagellonian University;
  6. efforts the raising of financial measures for the Centre's activity.
  1. The Head is inducted and discharged by the Rector of Jagiellonian University, on application of the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, evaluated by the Council of the Faculty of Philosophy.


Article 6

  1. The Consultation Committee is the Centre's advisory board. Its tasks are especially: to declare participation in peer reviewing of the newest literature from the field of the History of Ideas and its methodology published in the "International History of Ideas Research NetMag", and also advice in the scope of the publishing series "Viae et Viaculla. Proceedings of the International History of Ideas Club Meetings".
  2. The Consultation Committee consists of 30 members at most.
  3. The members of the Consultation Committee can be the representatives of the research units of the "International History of Ideas Research Network".
  4. The members of Consultation Committee are inducted and discharged by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagellonian University, on application of the Head of the Centre.
  5. The Consultation Committee sessions should occur at least once every four years.
  6. Four-year tenure is planned for the Consultation Committee. It begins on the 1st October, and ends on the 31st August of the last year of the university tenure.
  7. The first tenure of the members of the Consultation Committeebegins on the 1st November 2011, and ends on the 31st August 2012.


Article 7


The activities of the Centre are financed from external funds, including national and foreign budgetary and non-governmental organizational grants. The Centre does not charge Jagellonian University with the running costs. The units of Jagellonian University and its authorities can mandate the Centre with research and development assignments, financed from the earmarked funds based on the project's budget which is agreed upon.
