Bearing in mind the opportunities produced by the history of ideas for the most thematic groups and particular fields of knowledge, The International History of Ideas Club at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy in Padua, proposed to establish a history of ideas research network with a seat in Krakow to their foreign partners, which will promote a way of exploring knowledge and its methodology.

The Krakow-Padua's appeal has been met with enthusiasm and support. Most of the co-founding research centres as in Padua, Stockholm, Bochum, Duisburg-Essen, Lausanne, Halle and Petersburg declared their access. All of the partners defined their subject areas within the cooperation by declaring a promotion for the research on the doctoral and post-doc levels, as well as world-known researchers – still recognisable in the academic areas. One of the main goals of the arisen network is to broaden cooperation with other research centres.

The authorities of the Faculty, favourable for such an endeavour, proposed to change the status of the International History of Ideas Club, active since 2009 on the Faculty of Philosophy, and to set a "research centre" named the "History of Ideas Research Centre".
